COVID-19 Vaccine Eligibility Updates

A reminder - as of Tuesday April 6th, all New Yorkers 16 years of age or older are now eligible to receive their COVID-19 vaccine.

In Monroe County, 178,787 people have completed their vaccine series, and 278,313 people have received at least one vaccine dose. If you have not yet scheduled or received your first vaccine dose, please use the links below to make an appointment.

Scheduling vaccine appointments for eligible individuals at the State and County-run sites can be done either on the NYS "Am I Eligible?" website or the Monroe County Vaccine Information website. Appointments can also be made at NYS clinics (like the Dome Arena) by calling 1-833-697-4829 from 7 am - 10 pm daily. The Finger Lakes Vaccination hub has set up a useful website that provides an overlay of all available vaccination locations in the area.

THE MONUMENT AT THE TOP OF THE HILL

Ninety-five years ago on May 30, 1930, our first war monument was dedicated in Edmund Lyon Park. Honoring those who had served in World War I, the granite tablet and cannon have an interesting history.

In 1916, the first park in our community was dedicated. Once a heavily forested swampy area named Vanderbilt Park, the land had been purchased by Kate Gleason. Kate brought in workers from her father's company, Gleason Works, to excavate and clear out the area. The park was named after Edmund Lyon, a friend of Kate Gleason's and a founder of our village. At the top of the hill on the corner of Main and East Ivy Streets a flagpole was erected on the highest elevation in East Rochester.
