COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic

East Rochester Union Free School District to host vaccine clinic East Rochester, NY - East Rochester Union Free School District is hosting a COVID-19 vaccine clinic, in collaboration with the Village of East Rochester and Monroe One BOCES, on Wednesday, May 12, 2021. Walk-in vaccinations will be provided for Monroe County residents who have not yet received one. Those who prefer an appointment can schedule one through Monroe County Department of Health online or by calling the Monroe County Covid 19 Hotline at (585)-753-5555. In accordance with Monroe County Department of Health requirements, and to provide adequate social distancing, the clinic will allow for up to 60 individuals each hour. Parking will be available on site. Individuals must provide identification upon arrival. Individuals under the age of 18 must also be accompanied by a parent. After receiving the vaccination, individuals will receive their vaccination card with a follow-up date for their second shot and will be asked to remain on site for 15-30 minutes for monitoring. The district will have healthcare representatives from Monroe County on site to assist with any post-vaccination symptoms that may arise.

THE MONUMENT AT THE TOP OF THE HILL

Ninety-five years ago on May 30, 1930, our first war monument was dedicated in Edmund Lyon Park. Honoring those who had served in World War I, the granite tablet and cannon have an interesting history.

In 1916, the first park in our community was dedicated. Once a heavily forested swampy area named Vanderbilt Park, the land had been purchased by Kate Gleason. Kate brought in workers from her father's company, Gleason Works, to excavate and clear out the area. The park was named after Edmund Lyon, a friend of Kate Gleason's and a founder of our village. At the top of the hill on the corner of Main and East Ivy Streets a flagpole was erected on the highest elevation in East Rochester.
